Welcome to ISZL library

THE ISZL LIBRARY
The library would like to introduce our services to all new families at ISZL and reacquaint our services to families that have been here for a while. We welcome everyone to come and enjoy the library daily from 8:30am - 4:30pm.

The library has many great areas for students to do research, work on computers, or read. We have a large selection of materials for all ages. We also purchase quite a few fantastic online databases to support student learning for use at school or at home. Please check out our online catalogue, which has links to the many databases we subscribe to, as well as the collection the school owns.

We continually grow and improve our collection and space so look over the blog for updates all year.

Spotlight on Services:

Parent Book Exchange
Located in the corridor of the library floor is a cupboard filled with free books for parents to enjoy. All parents are welcome to bring and exchange these reading materials.

The Library Outside Lounge
The Parents Association generously funded the development of a wonderful outside space for parents, students and staff to enjoy. Please come visit and enjoy the fresh air on the comfortable library patio area. Open daily - until 4:30 pm.

Access to e-books at home or at school
We subscribe to some great e-book resources that enhance and extend our collection.  E-books can be beneficial to a variety of readers.  The narration of an e-book can share a strong model of fluency and the animation of the literature makes the story engaging to all readers. Vocabulary and comprehension building activities are built into many of the stories. Take a peek for a new way to enjoy a story.

Some of the research tools students can access at home or at school are:
•Britannica Encyclopaedia
•World Book Encyclopaedia
•Brain Pop
•Britannica Image Quest (a great new resource for sourcing safe good quality images)
•Noodletools (An online citation maker for creating the perfect citation for any source)

Family Accounts
We welcome families to come to the library and we can create a family account. Every family may open an account in addition to the account the students maintain. Families may check out ten books at a time and enjoy them for a two-week duration. Before school, lunch times or after school make great times for parents to come and use the library.

Donations
DVD
We are looking to create a DVD library for families to borrow materials from in the same manner as the Parent Book Exchange. If you have any DVD’s that you would be willing to donate to this DVD library we would be happy to receive them at any time.

Books/ Magazines
Many families ask if the library accepts donations of used books. Yes, we welcome your donations of materials in any language. If the library cannot use the materials we then forward these items to an approved charity.

Volunteers
We are always looking to welcome volunteers to help in the library. We have a variety of volunteer roles, there is something for everyone including helping at the circulation desk, helping at a book fair or working with a group to do special projects. If you are interested in helping in the library please feel free to stop by the library or send an e-mail directly to elizabeth.meeks@iszl.ch.  No prior experience necessary we are happy to train.☺

We look forward to seeing you up in the library soon.

Thank you the Library Team
